I mostly enjoyed this one up until about 3/4 through when we hit the major crisis. The tension between Sam and Mercy is nice and their first intimate encounter was really well done, however once Mercy realizes Sukie's been taken, it all falls apart.
Why do Sam, the two strangers she once "pressed" to help her and the old lady just help her without asking any questions? Yeah, let's go after a violent drug dealer just because this girl we hardly know asked us to. Sorry, don't buy it. I didn't have a great connection to these characters throughout the book, which might be part of the problem. I don't think I'll continue the series.
